Interpol bassist Carlos D has announced his departure from the band. It’s been suggested that he’s leaving to focus on his “film career,” but word on the street is he’s going to dedicate his time to getting his Mexican ska band with Iowa senator Chuck Grassley, Torta Reform, off the ground.

Former Hole drummer Patty Schemel performed this past weekend in LA with a one-off all-star band featuring Annabella Lwin from Bow Wow Wow and Kathy Valentine and Charlotte Caffey of the Go-Go’s. The show was a benefit for MusiCares, a musician-assistance charity in LA. Runaways front-woman-turned-chain-saw-artist-and-drug-counselor Cherie Currie joined them for a cover of “Cherry Bomb.”
A limited-edition book of Def Leppard rehearsal and concert photos from 2009 by hard rock photog Ash Newell was recently released via the band’s Web site, featuring liner notes by the band. The first 250 copies of Shots From the Sparkle Tour Volume 2 feature autographs from all five band members, and run a measly $334 (including shipping and handling).
