FitzGerald’s American Music Festival celebrates its 32nd year this weekend and into next week, with three stages of folk, country, blues, soul, rock, and more—bands will play inside the club, in its SideBar room, and on an outdoor tent stage. The festival runs for four days, from Fri 6/29 through Tue 7/3 and skipping Mon 7/2. Doors open at 4:30 PM on Friday, and that evening the club will host Sons of Fathers (two sets), Garland Jeffreys, and headliner Robbie Fulks playing as the Everly Brothers. The tent lineup includes Elephant Revival, the Anna Fermin Band, and headliners Dave Alvin & the Guilty Ones; the SideBar bands are Go Long Mule and the Puffins. Saturday is the fest’s first full day, with doors at 1 PM; in the club the entertainment includes Ike Reilly, Jon Dee Graham & the Fighting Cocks (see Soundboard), and headliners Brave Combo. Chicago soul sensations JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound headline the tent stage, after sets by Webb Wilder, Joe Pug, and others; the SideBar hosts Tyler Krienitz, Parlours, and the Chandelier Swingers. Doors open at 1 PM on Sunday too, and the Honey Island Swamp Band headlines the club stage; earlier in the day you can see Dave Alvin again, plus the Paul Thorn Band, the Derailers, and Ryan Brunet & the Malfecteurs, among others. C.J. Chenier, aka the King of Zydeco, headlines the tent stage with his Red Hot Louisiana Band, and his openers include Marcia Ball, Otis Taylor, the Congregation, and the Gina Knight Orchestra; Kyle Douglas, the Blue Ribbon Glee Club, and Sanctified Grumblers play in the SideBar. Doors are at 4:30 PM once again on Tue 7/3; the Waco Brothers & Paul Burch wrap things up on the club stage, after Chuck Prophet, Lydia Loveless, and Walter Salas-Humara. On the tent stage, Tributosaurus headlines with a set as CCR; other acts include Expo ’76 and bluegrass institution Special Consensus. SideBar sets are by Bunkertown, Cannonball, and Cannon-Town (members from Bunkertown and Cannonball, in case you didn’t pick up on that). Food will be available for purchase from Capri Ristorante and festival regular Tom Cimms, who’ll serve his Cajun barbecue. A four-day pass is $100, in advance only. Single-day passes are $30 ($25 within an hour of doors) and can’t be bought ahead of time. Kids under 12 get in for $5, but need to scram at 9 PM (the club closes at 3 AM on Friday and Saturday, 1 AM on Sunday, and 2 AM on Tuesday).
