Do you ever get thirsty? Do you like getting drunk? Are you tired of drinking beers that are total strangers to you? On July 6, Pelican guitarist Laurent Lebec, a manager and bartender at Big Star, and Ben Fasman, a longtime music publicist turned Big Star mixologist, will be leading an educational beer tasting at Red & White, 1861 N. Milwaukee, from 6 to 9 PM. According to Fasman, they’re “going to talk a lot about gueuze and spontaneous fermentation.”
Do you enjoy sitting on blankets and feeling the grass between your toes? Do you enjoy the fuck out of Ravinia once you’re there but get all Howard Hughes riding the Metra? Evanston’s annual summer Starlight Concert Series is heating up over the next few weeks . . . along with the weather! Upcoming events include appearances by raw R & B legend Andre Williams (Thursday, June 24), swinging Texas honky-tonker Wayne “the Train” Hancock (Thursday, July 1) and much-buzzed-about Milwaukee funkateers Kings Go Forth (Tuesday, July 20). The Williams and Hancock sets are at James Park (Dodge and Milford) and Kings Go Forth is at Dawes Park (Sheridan and Church). All events are free and begin at 7:30 PM.
