Last week UK tabloid The Sun reported rumors that Twilight star Robert Pattinson was the front-runner to play Kurt Cobain in the forthcoming biopic, but the report was debunked a few days later by Spin, which reported that the title role has not yet been cast. Gossip Wolf did manage to confirm that the role of Nevermind producer Butch Vig has gone to eight-time Grammy Award™ winner Anita Baker.

When the folks at Death Or Glory Records realized they didn’t actually have a men’s room in which to host a Record Store Day Liz Phair panty viewing, they booked a show instead. Chicago garage-pop bands Tyler Jon Tyler and Maximum Wage will play free sets at the store (2557½ W. Chicago) on April 17 starting at 7 PM. (For a full rundown see our Record Store Day roundup.
Frank and John Navin of the Aluminum Group, the local pop outfit named after an Eames-designed line of furniture, recently redecorated Schwa in six days on “no budget.” Local music publicist Kathryn Frazier, who’s handling press for chef Michael Carlson, hooked them up after John’s apartment appeared on HGTV’s Small Space, Big Style. The brothers are “working on a new Aluminum Group record probably titled ‘The Aluminum Group Presents Frankie & Johnny.’”
