The Chicago Humanities Festival continues, exploring the theme “Animal” and grappling with the question of what makes us human. Tonight Daniel Handler (aka Lemony Snicket) discusses his new book, When Did You See Her Last?, at 6 PM at Francis W. Parker School (2233 N. Clark, $20). The festival runs through November 10; get a rundown and the full schedule at chicagohumanities.org.
Dream Theatre Company’s Anna, in the Darkness is set deep down in a dark basement, where special education teacher Anna takes refuge as throngs of Bible beaters congregate outside, plotting to kill her under the impression that she worships Satan. “As Anna, Megan Merrill contributes an absorbing and destabilizing sense of ambiguity,” writes Zac Thompson. “It’s never entirely clear whether she’s telling us the truth or having a massive paranoid delusion.”
