Christmas cheer abounds today at Daley Plaza. It’s your first chance this season to take a seat on Santa’s knee and tell him what you want for Christmas. Once you’ve accomplished that, stick around for the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. Darlene Love will be on hand to play holiday music, and trainees from the Joffrey Academy of Dance will perform an excerpt from the Nutcracker. Then Mayor Rahm Emanuel lights the tree, which will be on display for the 100th time.
“The Tyranny of Good Taste” at Columbia College’s Glass Curtain Gallery features the work of 15 artists from around the country. Their pieces explore the theme of making art during hard economic times, shaking up the aesthetic world order. Read Sarah Nardi’s write-up here.
