Local rapper LUPE FIASCO has asked audiences on his forthcoming “Steppin’ Laser” tour to wear uniforms: black shirts, shoes, shades, and camo pants. The closest he gets to Chicago is Peoria, which makes Gossip Wolf suspect a summer festival appearance. Our money’s on Pitchfork . . . since the Lollapalooza lineup was announced Monday sans Lupe. Incidentally, Perry Farrell, who’s in charge of the Lolla dress code, is said to be entertaining a “Gellin’ Like Magellan” theme.

Twee superstars Belle and Sebastian arrived in LA on Sunday to start work on their eighth studio album. Nils Bernstein, the band’s publicist, confirmed that it’s being produced by Tony Hoffer, best known for his work with Beck and Air; he was also behind the boards on the band’s most recent album, 2006’s The Life Pursuit. The album is tentatively slated for a September release on Matador.

After last week’s show at Logan Square Auditorium, troubled youths the Black Lips took over Longman & Eagle, where the Get Drunk DJs set up an impromptu DJ booth behind the bar for a midnight dance party. Front man Jared Swilley solicitously showed his wienis to some local married ladies; a Gossip Wolf tipster reports that it looked like “a penis.”

V103’s Herb Kent, the Cool Gent, was recently recognized by Guinness World Records: his 65 years on air represent the world’s longest career as a radio presenter/DJ. And WLS’s Dick Biondi, aka the “Wild I-Tralian,” has been spinning Elvis records since before your grandma had pubes. On Saturday, April 10, the two radio legends will appear together at Columbia College (7:30 PM, 1104 S. Wabash, 8th floor) to discuss their epic careers with Bob Sirott. Admission is free.
