Gossip Wolf exclusive! Mary Ralph, guitarist for Scotland Yard Gospel Choir—which recently returned to playing as a full band after a serious van accident last year—reports that her tortoise, Justin Townes Turtle, has “started renovating his aquarium home during the night. When I get up to feed him, there are huge holes he dug in the cedar chips, his log is askew, and he has spilled his water dish & is camped out underneath it.” Ralph is currently trying to suss out a way to bring Justin on tour.

In case you aren’t heading out to Pitchfork, or its multitudinous afterparties, or the Cap’n Jazz reunion shows, or Lilith Fair, there’s the 25th annual Evanston Ethnic Arts Festival, July 17 and 18 in Dawes Park, at 1700 Sheridan Rd. The lineup includes bhangra/funk-brass party band Red Baraat, western Kenyan ensemble Kenge Kenge (probably best known for their song “Obama for Change”), a dozen other acts, and a “mini powwow.” Admission is free.
